Edradour 2008-2018 9yo 1st Fill Sherry by Beek

Beek is a fairly new Dutch brand by Jan Beek, know for The Ultimate. After our tastbuds exploded with the Millstone bottling, we were of course incredibly curious for the Edradour.

Fun fact: only the first batch of bottles wear Edradour on the label, Jan Beek had to relabel the rest of them, because there wasn’t permission to state the distillery on the label.

The whisky is 9 years old and has matured on a 1st fill sherry butt. Bottled at 46% but far from a sherry bomb. It’s young and vibrant, with lovely woody and spicy notes that are so typically Edradour:

Tasting notes

Nose

Wood, plums, tobacco, dates, grass, cereal, apple peels, sweet and warming

Palate

Orchard fruits, perfume, wood, vanilla, flowers, slightly dry

Finish

Perfume, cherries, orchard fruits, raisin bread, drying

A good addition to the cabinet for once, but nothing too special. It’s just your typical Edradour fix, and there’s nothin wrong with that.
