Can you name a better way to ease into the dreaded Monday than with this classic from the Highlands?
GlenDronach 12yo is easily one of our go-to sherried twelve years olds. Mainly because it’s, of course, GlenDronach. But also because it’s balanced to near perfection. A good introduction to sherry maturation in any whisky tasting session. This whisky has matured on both PX as Oloroso casks and it’s bottled at 43% ABV:
Apples, cherries, raisins, warming spices and oak
Spiced oak, cherries, vanilla, apples and a faint hint of buttery popcorn
Warming, sweet and lightly spicy, raisins, oak and stone fruits
We remember some older bottlings of the 12yo that were true sherrybombs, this one however, is not. Times are different now, but we still are able to enjoy this whisky. Balanced and pure, an easy but nevertheless complex-ish sipper.
