The Epicurean Glasgow Edition by Douglas Laing

Meet the Epicurean, traveling from town to town, storyteller at heart. Charming and a little bit cheeky. We meet him for the second time already. As the night settles he pours us a dram of his own blend of malts. And then he starts telling…

He’s full of stories of the Lowland distilleries he visited throughout the years. Some have a long history and some are in the game fairly recently, he, however is a bit secretive about that. But what matters most, is that he has a nose for finding the essence of a distillery’s profile, and he uses that knowledge to create his blends. This night he was in special kind of mood, as he poured us this Glasgow Edition. Cask strength and with lots of character, hypnotising in a way:

Tasting notes

Nose

Buttered corncob, cookie dough, custard, vanilla and a dash of bbq sauce. It’s slightly metallic and earthy, wonderful nose.

Palate

Crispy and sweet, with a beautifully fruity and creamy bouquet, the alcohol is nicely integrated and is has some metallic notes.

Finish

The finish is meaty, lightly salty and fruity. Lots of cookies and a vague hint of red pesto.

This is by far the dram of the Remarkable Regional Malts series we liked most of what we’ve tasted so far. Nothing to complain about, a very well done blend!
