We’re dealing with a heatwave at the moment, so it’s time for a refreshment!
Who needs lemonade when this beauty from the Glengyle Distillery lies around? A rather new expression, since the distillery only reopened in 2004, but it manages to be an instant classic, with a classical but very tasty profile:
Malty at first with a small hint of campfire smoke, candied oranges covered with dark chocolate. Also hints of mushrooms, kale and damp concrete, before becoming slightly tropical with aromas of Galia melon.
Creamy with hints of biscuits, pineapple, vanilla, coconut, tea biscuits and vanilla milkshake.
Pineapple, cream cheese, peaches, malt, lemon peels and a whiff of charcoal.
Such a fine dram, which offers lots of flavours but stays within a range of elegancy. Just like we’re used to with Campbeltown whiskies: it feels sensible and confident in the fact that it doesn’t need to be all glitter and glamour.
