Sauternes matured whiskies are my new addiction. It just works very well with scotch. So when I saw this bottling of Edradour Straight From the Cask, there was no doubt that I would get one.
It’s bottled at a whopping 61.4% ABV, but it goes down very smoothly:
Broth, yellow raisins, watery spices, Galia melon, pine, fresh cuttings
Pudding, yellow raisins, spicy wood, vanilla
Dry, warming and fatty, fungi, broth, savoury and sweet, cantaloupe, pencil shavings, grapes, tobacco
A wonderful palate of exotic and intriguing flavours, which are both sweet and savoury. This definitely confirms my recent love of whiskies with a sauternes-twist!
