Partagas Series D No. 4 x Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve

Can you feel the spring vibes already? Well, here’s a picture that looks like autumn ;)

It fits the flavours of the whisky though. Nevertheless, here in The Netherlands we can feel the spring, so it’s a perfect time to go out with a nice longfiller and a dram of the Dalmore Cigar Malt. This Dalmore was created to pair specifically with the Partagas Series D No. 4.

We did that combination lots of times. Now, we aren’t cigar specialists and we don’t smoke that often, because your palate is easily destroyed. But this pairing is spot on.

The whisky at itself is beautiful with rich, dark fruits and autumn-like flavours, but it lacks some depth. A cigar fills this gap perfectly and both the cigar and the Dalmore bring out the best in each other. We put away our whisky notes and just enjoy the warmth of the sun, the beauty of the dram and the smoking cigar. For those out there who aren’t familiar with longfiller cigars: they burn very slowly (30-40 minutes at least), and we tend to enjoy it by not pulling too much. It’s just the overall setting that we enjoy.

For this picture we didn’t use the Partagas D.4, because we ran out of them. We used a Brickhouse instead, another one of our favourite cigars. There are enough cigar lovers and specialists out here, please teach us, what cigar should we try the next time in combination with a dram?
