Ardbeg Corryvreckan

When the weather is hot, like it is right here right now, I like myself an Ardbeg. The 10yo is always a solid pour, but I tend to rotate between editions.

At the moment, Corryvreckan sits in my cabinet and from the regular CS expressions, I maybe like this one the most. It reminds me of the time we went to the distillery, where we found ourselves dramming in the early morning and we were the only visitors. Those were the days, we hope to pick up visiting distilleries again soon. In the meantime, we have good company:

Tasting notes

Nose

Buttery, sweet, tropical, pineapple, citrus sweets, fish oil, briny, crab sticks

Palate

Salty, creamy, tropical, fruity, pineapple, oily, sweet peat

Finish

Darker and stickier than the palate, salty pineapple, oil, fish, molten rubber/plastic, fudge, Daim chocolates, lucifer and band aid

The virgin oak in combination with bourbon casks work very well with Ardbeg. From all the ones we’ve tasted so far, we liked Kelpie the most, and this one comes pretty close. A lovely tropical Ardbeg. What’s your Ardbeg of choice?
